Welcome New Members for 2008

Wow! This must be the biggest intake of new members we have had in a month! January is supposed to be quiet but pehaps glass artists on Etsy have made a New Year's Resolution to join the greatest street team (IMHO). Let's welcome the new CGGE members.

CGGE on Indiepublic

One of the best indie chat sites has to be the wonderful http://indiepublic.com/ Here is how it describes itself. "Indiepublic is an independent art and design community. If you're an artist, designer, retailer, blogger, or just someone who gets giddy when they buy indie, we've saved a seat for you! "
Lots of members of the Creative Glass Guild use Indiepublic as a chat forum, blog, photo store and networking tool. It's also a useful tool to advertise your Etsy store and any promotions you may have. Indiepublic can also help indie artists, designers and makers promote their items with Indiecontests - a great way to publicise your latest offers or competitions. Here the CGGE have the latest offer of a fabulous glass brooch waiting to be won by a lucky newsletter subscriber http://indiecontests.com/category/contest
So check out Indiepublic, Indiecontest and the CGGE. Make new friends and bag yourself a bargain whilst your at it!

Fantastic Flickr

I first discovered http://flickr.com by reading about it in a newspaper way back in January 2007. Since that day I have become an avid fan of this site as it has so much to offer. For example:
It's a terrific way to keep a gallery of your photos.
You can share your images with the world or just your friends or keep them private.
New friendships are made on Flickr with like-minded people and you can also join groups who share your interests.
Of course, the CGGE has its own group on Flickr http://flickr.com /groups/cgge/ where anyone interested in glass may view our staggering collection of 1,767 plus photos, read our discussions and meet the members. If you are already a member of the CGGE but haven't signed up to Flickr, please come and join us. Our Flickr Group is managed by the wisest of hearts, Lawatha. View her photo sets at

Win FREE Glass Prizes! FUN Scavenger Hunt!

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble the Goodies!

On November 18, the CGGE's Thanksgiving SALE and Turkey Hunt begins!

Take a good look at the Teddy the Turkey, at left. He is the clue that will lead you to the prizes! Thanksgiving is around the corner, so Teddy the Turkey is hiding out in various listings on Etsy. Participating members of the CGGE will be providing refuge to Teddy the Turkey. Search our shops and hunt him down, to qualify for a shiny reward. One winner will receive a Harvest Flavored Five Flagged Stained Glass Bunting donated by PamelaAngus. Another winner will receive a Pretty Pair of Hummingbirds Fused Glass Pendant donated by lawatha, AND a third winner will win a Lovely Lampworked Pendant donated by ParrottFlameworks.

And while you are searching our shops for Teddy the Turkey, you'll notice fabulous sales which may include set percentages off, Buy-One-Get-Ones (BOGOs), free shipping, and more. See each shop's announcement for its special SALE!

Here's how to play!

Contest runs November 18th through the 25th.

To play, you must be an Etsy member. It’s EASY, sign up here if you are not a member already: http://www.etsy.com/.

Search each participating shop listed below to find a hidden Teddy the Turkey image.

Each participating shop has one Teddy the Turkey hidden somewhere. When you find one, make a note of the shop name, and the item number shown in the address window of that item. For example, you find a Teddy the Turkey here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=285136. Jot down "creationsinglass 285136" (shop name and item number). Remember he may be hiding ANYWHERE in a shop.

Simple!

When you've found all of Teddy the Turkey's hide-outs, send a convo to Janet at http://artglassfusion.etsy.com with all your answers.

The contest will run for one week, November 18th to the 25th. At midnight on Nov. 25th, our CGGE judges will check all of the entries for correct Teddy the Turkey sightings. Winners are the entries with the most correct sightings. In the likely event of a tie, the three winners will be drawn at random from all the correct entries. The lucky, clever winners will be notified via convos on Nov. 26th, and their names will be published before the cheering throngs on our website and in the Etsy forums.

CGGE members are not allowed to participate, but will join in, chat and cheer contestants on in the thread while you are searching for Teddy the Turkey!

A Big THANK YOU to some kind and generous Etsians!

On October 26th my daughter's daycare/preschool held their Fall Harvest Festival and Fundraiser.
Each classroom put together a gift basket that was auctioned off by silent auction to raise money for the school, and a percentage of the proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

A prize was given to the classroom with the “Most Beautiful” “Most Creative” or “Best use of the Fall/Winter Theme”.
I requested donations from my friends and teammates at the CGGE as well as on the general forums on Etsy. This was a wonderful opportunity to get the word out about Etsy, handmade goods, and our wonderful talented glass artists at the CGGE.

A BIG HEARTFELT THANKS TO (for your generous donations pictured above & below):

and my Mom, creationsinglass
See below for the final basket, can you the pieces donated by our Etsy friends? The fused glass suncatcher from my Mom, was auctioned off separately for $55! Congratulations!

Thanks so much for your support! If you like what you see and wish to visit these shops on Etsy, their shop links are clickable above!
